Getting More Information About an iView Report
How do I see patient and service detail information?
How do I get more information about an Episode Treatment Group™ (ETG)?
To display iView reports created especially for your practice, you must first identify yourself by supplying the identification code assigned to you by the managed care organization and your password. (If you don't know your identification code or password, contact the managed care organization for assistance.)
To log in:
In the Login ID text box, enter your identification code.
Press the Tab key on your keyboard.
The cursor moves to the Password text box.
For added security, asterisks (***) appear instead of the characters you type.
If the login is successful, you can now display an iView report.
Note: For added security, the managed care organization may have implemented a time-out feature. Following a successful login, you may need to log in again if you don't perform any activity for a period of time specified by the managed care organization.
Following a successful login, you can change your password at any time. By default, passwords can contain from four to twelve characters, but the managed care organization may have changed these limits. If you supply a new password that contains too few or too many characters, a message appears informing you of the appropriate number of characters to use.
(If you don't know your password, contact the managed care organization for assistance.)
To change your password:
Your browser window displays the heading "Change Password" and two text boxes.
For added security, asterisks (***) appear instead of the characters you type.
The cursor moves to the Re-enter Password text box.
For added security, asterisks (***) appear instead of the characters you type.
Your browser window displays a message confirming that your password has been changed. You can now display an iView report.
The managed care organization places iView reports that apply to your practice in one or more folders. These folders appear on the left side of your browser window. A closed folder appears with a plus sign (+) in front of its name, while an open folder appears with a minus sign (-) in front of its name. To display an iView report, open the appropriate folder, and then select the report you want to see.
To display an iView report:
A list of reports stored in that folder appears below the folder name.
That report appears on the right side of your browser window. Notice that both the name of the folder and the name of the selected report appear at the top left of the report: [Folder name] Report name
(You can close an open folder by clicking the folder name again. You can also click the minus sign in front of the appropriate folder name.)

Getting More Information About an iView Report
What are episodes and Episode Treatment Groups (ETGs)?
An episode is a grouping of health care services provided to a patient over time to treat a specific illness or condition. Thus, an episode represents the overall treatment for a specific occurrence of a specific illness or condition.
Episode Treatment Groups (ETGs) are a classification system used to link a patient's health care services into episodes by categorizing the patient's illness or condition into one of more than 500 groups. For example, ETG 250 identifies a heart transplant.
How do I get more information about a specific ETG?
For those iView reports that group patient health care services into episodes of treatment, detailed Episode Treatment Group descriptions are available. These descriptions provide information about the prevalent diagnoses, comorbidities, complications, defining surgeries, and so on associated with a specific ETG.
To get more information about a specific ETG:
The pointer changes to a question mark (
) if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer® or to a pointing finger (
) if you are using Netscape Navigator™.
A second, smaller browser window appears containing the detailed description of the corresponding ETG.
Episode Treatment Groups™, a trademark of Symmetry Health Data Systems, Inc., is protected by U.S. Patent Number 5,835,897. U.S. and Foreign Patents pending.
You can print any displayed report for additional analysis, for discussion with the managed care organization, for your personal records, and so on. Follow this procedure to print only the displayed report, not the entire browser window.
To print an iView report:
The following appear:
A new "print preview" browser window containing only the report. (That is, the managed care organization's logo, list of folder and report names, buttons, and so on no longer appear in your browser window.)
A second, small window containing instructions for printing the report, a button for closing this small window, and a check box that you can select if you never want to see the small window again.
The small window disappears.
The displayed report is sent to your printer.
Note: If you don't follow this procedure and simply click the Print button in your browser's toolbar, you will print the entire browser window (that is, the report, along with the managed care organization's logo, the list of folders and report names, the Print Report and Report Help buttons, the Login, Help, and Change Password buttons, and so on). Because these additional items take up space, some of the right side of your report may not fit on the printed page.
